With FIFA 20 coming out on September 27 th will the game be an improvement on last year? There is little doubt that FIFA has been in decline the past few years. This year could be the same with Juventus being exclusively on PES. FIFA will now have to go down the road of making up a name for these European giants. EA has a money grabbing relationship with many games. FIFA is no different with Ultimate Teams pay to win mentality starting to take over the past few years. This needs to change. FIFA is the biggest football game on the market however is PES beginning to take back some of the ground on it’s great rival?

FIFA needs a refreshing new game to reignite the support and popularity of the franchise. EA know that everyone will buy their new game despite adding very little new content for the gamer to enjoy. It’s seems every year EA promises major changes to the game but when it’s released there seems to be very little in the line of changes. Several features need an overhaul among them is career mode. Career mode is a rewarding mode in FIFA acting as the manager and improving you’re team season by season. However, there are certain aspect of career mode that have to be improved for this years game. First of all manager customisation is poor there is little options to change the appearance of you’re manager. There are some game breaking faults that need to be fixed. Contract expires are a joke. When a player contract is running down to 6 months he can be signed for the next season. Sounds fair. Unfortunately there is often a glitch where you can sign an infinite number of players with contracts expiring and this does not effect or take money out of you’re transfer budget.Granted it can be fun to have the worlds best players playing for a weaker team but the system needs to be improved and bug free.

Another problem is players surpassing the price of their release clause. A player could be worth £12m but have a release clause of £4m. This is another issue that needs updating. As the career progresses there should be other features. Possibly customisable jerseys. If you take the time to get
a League 2 side to the Premier League I think you should at least be allowed to have the Premier League emblem on you’re shirt opposed to the league the club is actually in. Career mode is a game you can put endless hours into and I think generally it is a good mode but it just needs a little work.

Perhaps EA have put more of a focus on Ultimate Team and the Journey in the past few years. It would be nice to see a few old modes return to the game. With the return of FIFA street fans have to be excited. I would love to see the return of player manager an enjoyable mode that combined
two of the most entertaining parts of the game. Pro clubs is another area that could do with a lift. The match making needs to be improved. If a team has two players there is no way they should come up against a team with 4+ plus. It’s just not fair.

Gameplay needs work as well. Near post corners are ridiculous. If you come up against a player with a lot of practice and a big player at the near post they will score nearly every time. This is not right. When a defender puts in a good tackle more often than not the ball breaks back to the team in
attack anyway. There should be some mechanic to give the defending player more of a chance if the ball does not break their way. It can be very frustrating putting in tackle after tackle and not getting
the ball back. Overall FIFA is a game that is going to have massive sales this year. The real question is will EA listen to the fans? The fans are the people that put this game where it is. Now it’s down to EA to stop thinking about money for once and delivering on this years game. Will they implement the changes that are needed to improve the game? Bringing it back to the force it once was.
